Welcome to The Pottery Shed! I'm Mary, a ceramic artist based in Dunfermline, Scotland, creating handcrafted pottery from my cosy back garden studio.

Originally an oil painter inspired by Scotland's breathtaking landscapes, I discovered a passion for working with clay and was instantly captivated by its endless creative possibilities. The Pottery Shed was born from that moment - a personal journey from canvas to ceramics, and a love of crafting beautiful, functional pieces by hand.

From colourful mugs, bowls, plates and vases to hand-painted ceramics inspired by the Scottish countryside, every piece is thoughtfully designed and individually made. Each creation carries its own perfectly imperfect character, making no two pieces exactly alike.

Buyer information

To buy, request or commission a pottery piece, fill out the contact form.

  • Ready-made items (available now) are ready to deliver or dispatch immediately. Delivery costs and timescales will be communicated prior to invoice payment.
  • Pottery pieces from the archives must be prepared from scratch and kiln-fired. This takes time, so some patience will be required. Again, expected timescales will be communicated prior to invoice payment.
  • Bespoke commissions have their own unique timescale, but a deadline for completion is agreed between both parties prior to the commencement of any work. A deposit is required for a bespoke piece to begin the ideation process, followed by payment in full on agreement of the scope of the work.
